Hello Zohar. It sounds like you've stopped the computer and botched a
critical update. As Ubuntu 7.10 is no longer supported, the simplest
(by far) solution would be to save your /home/ directory then install
Ubuntu 9,04. You are in for a nice or a nasty surprise (depending on
your point of view) if you use KDE, though. Before proceeding with my
advice, however, have your brother confirm or deny that it is a good
solution. He's the guy that _I_ trust!
