*Storage Systems: **
*Perspectives, Research & a Community Gathering**

*Thursday, May 27, 2010,
Auditorium Floor 10, Electrical Engineering Building, Technion*

Storage-centric systems, under names such as "web servers" and "data
centers," are a key component of the information society's infrastructure.
Under-publicized yet very successful, Israelis and Israeli companies have
played an important role in the evolution and revolution of storage for
decades, ranging from devices through coding and core storage functions to
related communications.

This event will shed some light on ongoing storage systems activity in
universities and industry alike, starting with a broader perspective by
Moshe Yanai, presently an IBM Fellow and a storage landmark by himself. The
"Hot storage" session will offer an opportunity for brief "this is what we
are doing" announcements by companies and individual researchers, and for
posing challenges. Finally and perhaps most important, this is a unique
get-together opportunity for the Israeli storage community, reunions and new
introductions alike.
