Hello Girls and Boys,

Celebrating the 10th birthday of Haifux, as always, the queue at August is
low, and it is time to reload.

There have been voices asking for some basic lectures, especially towards
the beginning of the semester/school year:

*Philosophy of free software - what is free software? what is the difference
from open source? what FOSS activities are there in Israel?

*Games on Linux/FOSS games/Linux for preschool/gcompris (
http://gcompris.net/)

*Linux at school - FOSS alternatives to closed software (octave vs. matlab,
office programs, preparing presentations using free formats)

*Linux at the Technion - development tools lecture - especially now that
there is a lab which pushes Linux heavily.

*Installation party - not talking about it, doing it. It has been quite some
time since we have done one, and people ask for help regarding configuring
their Linux, iptables, multimedia. Some people just need their hand held
while running the ISO they picked themselves and burnt.

*Linux Viruses. The short life and hard times of. (
http://librenix.com/?inode=21). People (Windows users) always wonder why I
have no antivirus program. How about a talk which historically describes
Linux virus wannabes (http://math-www.uni-paderborn.de/~axel/bliss/), and
also scans the protection measures used in the Linux environment, at an
intro level.

*Molnar's completely fair scheduler by Molnar (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Completely_Fair_Scheduler)

*Any suggestion you may have, we would like to hear about it!

Open Dates:
August 31 and September 14
or
September 7 and September 21

October 12
November 9
November 23
December 7
Deceber 21

Thanks
