Documentation Aids
- Most library and system functions are documented in man pages.
These pages may be read in text mode (the 'man' command) or using
a GUI man pages reader ('xman', 'tkman', etc).
- Various tools come with info pages. These are forms of primitive
hypertext pages. 'info' (and also 'emacs', and 'pinfo') can read
such pages. There is also a
"info2html"
CGI script that allows reading info pages using a web browser.
- Many tutorials exist, some of them come as part of the
LDP (Linux Documentation Project),
and are available on the Web.
