IDEs - Integrated Development Environments
- IDE - a set of tools providing a complete environment for source code
editing, compilation, debugging, source control, etc.
- Linux now has a set of IDEs available. Starting with
Emacs
or XEmacs, up to commercial IDEs,
such as Sniff+,
CodeForge, etc.
- On the open-source side, Kdevelop
has lately become a usable IDE, and is quite recommended for IDE users.
- However, an IDE is just the tip of the iceberg. Software development
tools cover much more then just IDEs.
