About Networking Under Linux
- As we saw until now - Linux was born on the Internet. As such,
network support was fundamental to the system.
- Most Linux users connect to the network using modems and dial-up
connections.
- More "advanced" users use ISDN cards and gain a faster and more
reliable Internet connection.
- Luckier users (in Israel) participate in the ADSL or cable modems
"experiments", and use those to hook up.
- Finally, there are those selected few who connect their system
directly to their LAN, usually using an Ethernet controller.
