Checking inode-cache statistics

• To see statistics about the inode-cache:

       $ cat /proc/sys/fs/inode-state 
       68034	21738	0	0	0	0	0
       

• Entries are as follows:
  1. nr_inodes - number of allocated inodes in the cache.
  2. nr_free_inodes - number of unused (=free) entries in the cache.
  3. preshrink - nonzero when the number of allocated inodes is larger than inode-max (TODO - missing on Ubuntu 10.04?) - implying the system needs to clear inode cache entries.
  4. unused
  5. unused.
  6. unused.
  7. unused.
