Where Is Linux Heading To? (speculations...) Linux has (in general) come to a stage where it could possibly influence other operating systems. It should be expected that finally, some real innovation comes out of Linux, and new features will be later copied by competing operating systems. One of KDE or GNOME would eventually 'conquer' the market, and will start being distributed with commercial Unix systems. A standard set of interfaces will be defined using CORBA's IDL, allowing CORBA to finally become what it should have been.
