Supercomputing 08 in the Eye of the Beholder - Orna Agmon Ben-Yehuda

Abstract

Supercomputing 08 was the 20th supercomputing conference, where researchers from national laboratories and universities meet people from the industry to discuss bleeding edge technologies and implementations. This year, about 4000 people attended the technical program, and about 10000 the whole conference. Sometimes, over 15 tracks take place at the same time.

I will present insights and knowledge I acquired, focusing on emerging parallel architectures, energy issues and parallel development tools. I will also present the cluster challenge.
